Sony’s official PS3 FAQ confirms that the PS3 will be able to use old gamesaves from the PS2 and PS1 via a special adaptor.

Sony has stated before that they are committed to making every previous PS2 and PS1 game compatible with the Playstation 3.

The FAQ states that the required memory card adaptor is “designed to edit, up/download game saves to and from EMS flash card or smart media card.”

So far there is no mention of pricing, or if it will be available at launch – But then again, If all you want to do when your shiny new PS3 arrives is play a few rounds of Destruction Derby 2, You should probably hold out until the price drops anyway.
