Wii’s Price is $299.99?

August 6th, 2006 by IcyStorm | General, Nintendo Wii, Rumors

7-11’s new Slurpee promotion has a Nintendo Wii as one of the prizes, but interestingly enough, the promotion website lists it as an approximate retail price of $299.99. Now this tidbit goes against Nintendo’s statements of a price tag under $250.

Of course, the Wii could always be packaged with a game, but the problem with this is that all the other product prices on 7-11’s site are accurate. It is possible but unlikely that Nintendo has raised the price tag because of all the hype after E3.

It’s likely that this is a 7-11 mistake, but anything is possible. All we can do is watch for Nintendo’s official statement on the price tag in the upcoming months.
