Ubisoft has confirmed to both IGN and GameSpot that there is a Prince of Persia game in the works for the Nintendo Wii. It was purposely left out of the announcement of the seven Wii launch titles because the release date of the game is unknown and will likely be in 2007 or 2008.

"I can confirm that a game based on the popular Prince of Persia franchise is one of many titles Ubisoft has in development for Nintendo’s Wii," a spokesperson for Ubisoft told IGN today. "At this time we can not provide an official date for the game or any additional information about it."

Ubisoft has shown strong support for Nintendo’s new platform, with a whopping seven launch titles and more games to come in 2007 and beyond. This announcement, according to GameSpot, makes the Wii the only next-gen system with a Prince of Persia title confirmed.
