Circuit City Looking To Rip Off Customers?
September 5th, 2006 by korok15 | Business, General, Xbox 360
This picture was taken from a Circuit City in Newport Beach, California. Basically, the sign says that Circuit City will install the backward compatibilty software on your Xbox 360 for the low price of $28.99.
As you probably already know, this software is available for free through an auto-update on Xbox Live, or if you don’t have Xbox Live, you can order an installer CD directly from Microsoft for around $5.
So who would be caught in this scam? Uninformed shoppers who have no idea they could get this software for free elsewhere. This is really a shady way of doing business and I would have never thought Circuit City would have gone this low to make a few dollars.
And as if it wasn’t enough, they go and put asterisks saying to “refer to the original Xbox games list to ensure compatibility.” So, they say EVERY game will be playable in high-definition, then they say we have to check a list to make sure which ones really are.
I just hope someone puts this guy out of business, I really hate it when companies take advantage of people like this, especially for things you can get, not for a little less, but for free.
Remember, this is only one Circuit City in particular so I don’t know if the other ones have the same practices, but I sure hope not.
