Back in August we heard whispers of a new Prince of Persia title for the PSP ‘Rival Swords’. A whisper that has just been confirmed by Ubisoft today.

“In Prince of Persia Rival Swords, the Prince makes his way home to Babylon, bearing with him Kaileena, and unspeakable scars from the Island of Time. But instead of the peace he longs for, he finds his kingdom ravaged by war and Kaileena the target of a brutal plot. Cast out on the streets, hunted as a fugitive, the Prince soon discovers that the Sands have tainted him, too. They have given rise to a deadly Dark Prince, whose spirit gradually possesses him.”

Rival Swords is actually heavily based on the more commonly known Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones console game that was released earlier in 2006. Rival Swords does however have a new multiplayer verses mode where the Prince or Dark Prince will compete against each other to complete each level; setting off traps to aid their cause. It is also known that the game will feature all-new chariot combat levels.

Prince of Persia: Rival Swords is due for release this Christmas 2006 in Europe and early next year in North America.
