First-Party Wii Games Will Be Region Free [Update 1]

Thanks to Joel Johnson from Wired News we now have confirmation from Nintendo’s VP of Marketing Perrin Kaplan that ALL first-party Wii games will be without region locks. This means that all games made by Nintendo for the Wii will be playable on Wii systems from all regions.

Japan & U.S. Wii Launch Details Announced

Nintendo announced today that the Wii will launch in Japan on December 2nd, priced at 25,000 Yen (around $215).
The Wii will be launching in the U.S. almost two weeks earlier, on November 19th, and will retail at $249.99. The U.S. version comes bundled with Wii sports.

Casual Gamer Wins $1 Million

Fun Technologies held the first-ever WorldWide Web Games in Hollywood, California. Kavitha Yalavarthi of Odessa, Texas, was crowned World’s Best Casual Gamer at the event.
Three games were used at the event: Bejeweled 2, Solitaire, and Zuma. There were 71 contestants for the competition, which took over the course of 12 hours.
