Codemasters have announced that their recently released MMORPG Archlord will no longer require a monthly subscription fee as of January 4th, in an effort to attract more new players to the game.

The developers are still contemplating other revenue sources but at this stage it seems most likely to be charging for items in the games Chantra shop, or possibly in-game advertising. Players who have pre-paid subscriptions will be automaticly refunded their unused game time.

Since its release in late september, Archlord has received generally negative reviews.
