Reuters reports that the introduction of the Wii has led to a massive outbreak of domestic violence worldwide. Nintendo has grown concerned, both about the phenomenon itself, and about the possible legal repercussions for the Kyoto-based company, and has issued new guidelines in an attempt to limit the problem.

Apparently over-enthusiastic gamers are getting a little too carried away with the physical aspect of the Wii’s gameplay and are throwing the controllers around the room, smashing up domestic gadgetry of all types. For pictures of said smashed-up gadgetry check out http://wiihaveaproblem.com/

Nintendo’s updated advice includes :

Hold the remote securely and avoid excessive motion during game play.

If your hands become moist, stop and dry your hands, grasshopper.

(ok ok, I added the grasshopper part)

How long will it be before Mothers Against Videogame Violence gets a hold of this one?
