In-Game Advertising Comes To Counter-Strike

In an interview with CS Nation, Valve Software has confirmed that in-game ads will be coming to Counterstrike 1.6 in the near future. Faced with often hostile questions from the interviewer, Valve’s Doug Lombardi refused point-blank to answer some of them, but did reveal the essence of the company’s plans.

Wii UK Launch

Wii Leads to Massive Outbreak of Domestic Violence Worldwide

Reuters reports that the introduction of the Wii has led to a massive outbreak of domestic violence worldwide. Nintendo has grown concerned, both about the phenomenon itself, and about the possible legal repercussions for the Kyoto-based company, and has issued new guidelines in an attempt to limit the problem.

Before the Storm : First Impressions

Reaction to the new World of Warcraft patch, Before the Storm, has been generally positive. Most players seem to be having fun trying out their new talents. Major cities are filled with warlocks running around ostentatiously with their new Felguard minions, frost mages summoning water elementals, and druids shuffling round in tree form.

Napster founder Shawn Fanning has announced plans for Rupture, a social networking site aimed at players of MMORPGs. He intends to start with the biggest, World of Warcraft, and is currently seeking “qualified World of Warcraft guilds to participate in our closed beta.”

Archlord drops monthly subscription charge

Codemasters have announced that their recently released MMORPG Archlord will no longer require a monthly subscription fee as of January 4th, in an effort to attract more new players to the game.
